About Us
The Division of Clinical Neurology at the Vetsuisse Faculty, University Bern, Switzerland, invites applications for a Senior Clinician in Veterinary Neurology. Our international and dynamic team currently comprises two ECVN Diplomates, two ECVN residents, one combined PhD student/ECVN resident, one veterinarian pursuing national specialist qualification, one rotating intern and clinical student/s.The Role
We are seeking a board-certified veterinary neurologist holding an ECVN or ACVIM Diploma in Neurology. Board-eligible candidates with a clear pathway to certification will also be considered.The successful candidate is expected to bring a strong commitment to both clinical excellence and research and academic engagement. The role encompasses advanced neurological case management alongside active participation in established and developing research projects. For candidates with academic ambitions, the University offers structured pathways toward habilitation-equivalent qualifications, tailored to individual career goals.
Teaching is an integral component of this position, spanning undergraduate veterinary education as well as postgraduate and residency training programmes. Enthusiasm for mentoring the next generation of neurologists is essential.
The Division
The Division of Neurology is a dynamic referral service managing approximately 1,000 neurological cases per year, supported by state-of-the-art diagnostics, neurosurgery, and a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic facilities. It is embedded in the busy multi-disciplinary environment of the Small Animal Teaching Hospital with regular exposure to large animals. The Vetsuisse Faculty Bern offers a very stimulating neuroscience research environment with strong multidisciplinary collaborative links to neuropathology and neuroimaging groups.
Requirements
The Candidate must demonstrate proficiency in at least one of Switzerland's national languages (German, French, or Italian), as required for professional practice in Switzerland. Fluency in English is equally essential, as it serves as the primary working language within the Divisions.Conditions
The position is available from 1st October 2026, although a later start date can be arranged if required. The successful candidate will benefit from five weeks of annual leave and competitive remuneration commensurate with experience.
