Your responsibilities
This position combines infrastructure development (~40%) with user-oriented IT support (~10%) in a heterogeneous scientific environment.Initial fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension and increased workload.
IT Infrastructure & Systems (primary focus)
- Maintain, develop, and improve workstations, servers, and scientific instrument computers (Windows, macOS, Linux)
- Support and further develop network connectivity in coordination with central IT services of the University
- Manage and support virtualization and container-based environments
- Ensure and contribute to system reliability (backup, updates, monitoring)
Support & Operations (limited scope), in collaboration with additional IT support personnel
- Provide user-oriented IT support (analysis, prioritization, and resolution of issues)
- Act as a local interface to central IT services (1st and 2nd level support)
Coordination & Projects
- Contribute to IT security, asset management (GLPI), and system documentation
- Support web and digital services (updates, access, and content workflows)
- Assist with procurement and lifecycle management of hardware and software
- Collaborate closely with researchers, lab managers, and administration
Your profile
- Training in IT / computer science or equivalent professional experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Windows, macOS, and Linux environments
- Solid understanding of networking, virtualization, and container technologies
- Experience in troubleshooting complex IT infrastructures (hardware and software)
- Structured, service-oriented, and proactive working style
- Strong communication skills in German and English
- Experience in a scientific or academic environment is an asset
