About us

The Department of Clinical Veterinary Medecine provides exemplary services in small and large animal surgery and medicine, offering primary and referral care for all species. Our university hospitals, situated in one of Switzerland's most picturesque cities, boast state-of-the-art facilities and are renowned centers of excellence in veterinary education.

We are currently seeking an experienced, motivated and collaborative Veterinary Dermatologist to join our Clinical Dermatology Service at the Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Bern.

The position is offered at 80–100%. Part-time and job-sharing arrangements may be considered.

Requirements

  • DVM or equivalent degree
  • ECVD or ACVD board certification
  • Clinical experience and proficiency in veterinary dermatology
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork
  • Interest in clinical research and academic collaboration is desirable
  • Competencies in analyzing and optimizing clinical workflows are essential
  • Experience in clinical supervision, mentoring or team coordination is an advantage
  • Fluency in English, German, or French is required. Candidates who do not speak German are expected to acquire a good working knowledge within the first years of employment.

Responsibilities

As a key member of the Clinical Dermatology Team, the successful candidate will work closely with and report to the Head of Clinical Dermatology and contribute to the daily organization and development of the service.
The position includes independent specialist-level clinical work, with responsibility for assigned cases from consultation to follow-up, including appropriate documentation and communication with owners and referring veterinarians.
The candidate will contribute to the supervision of the dermatology resident and to the clinical and didactic teaching of veterinary students, residents, interns and technical staff.
The main clinical focus is companion-animal and equine dermatology, with occasional involvement in large-animal, exotic and zoo dermatology.
Participation in selected clinical research projects and academic collaborations is expected.
We are looking for a collaborative colleague with good communication skills who is willing to contribute to the continuous improvement of the Dermatology Service.
Salaries will be commensurate with professional and academic credentials and experience.
