About ENLIGHT
The European university alliance ENLIGHT connects the University of Bern with nine other research-intensive comprehensive universities which jointly pursue the goal of structural development and create an interconnected campus for students, lecturers, researchers and employees.To ensure that student voices are heard within the alliance, ENLIGHT prides itself in fostering a vibrant and active Student Network. The ENLIGHT Student Network brings together official student representatives from the ten ENLIGHT universities, representing the interests of over 330.000 students of ENLIGHT in policy- and decision-making of ENLIGHT and building a European student community. In total, the Student Network consists of 20 people – two per ENLIGHT university.
The Student Network consists of two distinct teams: Governance is responsible for student representation and strategic decision making within ENLIGHT. Community is responsible for building an ENLIGHT community and promoting ENLIGHT within each partner University.
UniBE International in collaboration with the SUB (Student Union of the University of Bern) is looking for a student to represent the University of Bern in the ENLIGHT Student Network Governance Team.
Tasks
• Representation of the students of the University of Bern within the ENLIGHT Alliance• Participation in the Student Network Governance Team
• Acting as a liaison between ENLIGHT and the SUB (Student Union of the University of Bern)
• Regular communication with ENLIGHT coordinators and the other Student Network representatives at the University of Bern
• Participating in selected ENLIGHT conferences and taskforces as a Student Network representative
• Helping to promote ENLIGHT among students at the University of Bern
Requirements
- Must be enrolled at the University of Bern
- Interest in higher education policy and student engagement in an international environment
- Knowledge of ENLIGHT and/or the SUB is an advantage
- Intercultural competence, mobility experience is an advantage
- Very good English skills (equivalent to C1 level)
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Flexibility in terms of time and location and willingness to organize working hours according to the tasks at hand (annual working hours)
- Willingness and flexibility to travel abroad approx. 3-4 times per year (partially during the semester)
- Able to commit to a minimum one-year term, with the possibility of extension
You must also be able to travel to the Student Network Bootcamp in Bilbao, Spain from 16-19 July 2026, since this is when the handover and initial training for the position will take place.
