About the project

We are looking for a highly motivated junior postdoctoral researcher in pharmacogenomics to join our research group at the Department of Clinical Chemistry. Our research aims to understand mechanisms underlying variability in the susceptibility to potentially life-threatening adverse events from fluoropyrimidine-based chemotherapy. Our overall goal is to translate scientific knowledge into clinically useful predictive or prognostic markers for the identification of individuals at risk of adverse drug reactions or of therapeutic failure, thereby contributing to treatments that are more closely tailored to patients' individual needs.

What you can expect

  • Genetic association studies in patients and healthy volunteers
  • Measurement of drugs and other metabolites in vitro and in vivo
  • Functional characterization of candidate genetic variants using cell models and enzyme assays

Your Profile

  • Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences or a related field, M.D., Pharm.D., or an equivalent degree
  • Solid understanding of genetics and/or genomics
  • Ideally, experience in genetic association studies and wet-lab molecular biology
  • Experience in pharmacology and/or bioinformatics tools and data analysis would be an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Ability to handle complex projects
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in research productivity
  • Willingness to share research findings through publications, presentations, and other knowledge-transfer activities
  • Motivation to participate in the supervision of Ph.D. and M.Sc. students
